I would like to extend the bath waste vertically down through the floor of the bathroom and into the utility room, for better access, before the trap.

I can't see any reason that this would be an issue with regards to regs and drainage. But as far as I can tell, wastes can only be fitted directly to the plug thread. There are no male - female extenders manufactured.

Does anyone know of a source of such extenders?

Cheers,

Cheers Newboy, exactly what I'd be after.

I'm running all the plumbing under the floor joists (that makes up the utility ceiling) to save notching or drilling the joists. I'm also not sure I have space for a normal bath trap directly beneath the tub and would rather not use a low profile one (which would then need to drop vertically down to get under the floor anyway).

It will also give much easier access to the trap to clear it.

Need to look into syphonic actions that could arise from using such a vertical extender, but providing I use a full size S trap, I don't see it'll be a problem.

From Approved Doc H

1.6 Access for clearing blockages
"If a trap forms part of an appliance the appliance should be removable. All other traps should be fitted directly after the appliance and should be removable or be fitted with a cleaning eye."
This implies that the reason for fitting it directly after the appliance is purely one of access for clearing blockages.

This seems to be the only references to locality of traps?

How about using a HepVo valve straight off the bath waste, then just run waste as you wish from there? Fitting a standard trap immediately after the appliance keeps the length of waste prior to the water seal to a minimum. Running traps are available, but having a length of untrapped waste prior to any trap allows more opportunity for crud to build up and stink, putting foul odours back into the room.

Will look into HepVo's. Other option I was thinking about was an anti-siphon in case the increased flow rate through the trap would trigger a siphon.

Good point on crud build up. Almost got the feed plumbing done now, will double check my measurements to check i have clearance for a HepVo (joist very close to where the waste will be).

Cheers,
Fubar.
