I am fitting a new cooker control switch to replace a very old design. Unfortunately the cable is not long enough for the new unit and there is no slack at all to pull through.
Is it acceptable to extend the conductors by use of compression crimps and if so what colour is the correct size for 6mm cable ?
Thanks

These crimps are going to be inside the cooker control unit enclosure, right?

and yellow is the correct size to use for 6mm² cable

Yes the connections will be inside... is this an accepted practice ?l inspection

Crimped joins don't have to be accesable for inspection, but they do have to be enclosed (you can't just plaster them into the wall unenclosed)

as you are putting them in the back of the cooker control unit there is nothing wrong with what you are doing :)
