Hi,

I am looking to move my cooker plate to another cupboard in our new kitchen.

The circuit is protected with a 32A breaker in the consumer unit. The current cable is 6mm t&e from the cooker isolater switch to the existing cooker plate.

The new oven is 3.45kw (16a). Given that this is the maximum load of the oven, is it ok to extend the cable with a 30a choc block (in a box) to the new location?

Also, I don't think the new oven comes with a cable. What size cable do I need to connect the oven to the faceplate.

Given the oven is 16a is it also worth reducing the 32a breaker in the CU to 16A?

Thank you.

Thank you Eric.

Could I use a cooker isolation switch instead of an outlet plate as I also need a socket for the hob (ignition for the gas hob)?

I have, but instead of joining the cable in an outlet plate, could I use another isolation switch ?

Kill 2 birds with one stone.

However, I am just going to join with a cooker outlet plate and spur from a near by socket for the new plug.

Thanks for all the replies.

Why don't you spur from the cooker outlet plate?
TBH I didn't think that would be allowed - taking a 2.5mm spur from 6mm cable. The spurred socket would only be used for the gas hob ignition.

Sure would be a lot easier

Thanks
