Basin waste has started dripping so I stripped it down cursing the bodge of the previous repairer.

The 43mmOD vertical waste pipe is ~20mm too short so it pulls on the side outlet from the trap. To get a good seal, I need to extend the 43mm pipe. I have some 43mm pipe so I was thinking of cutting the existing and either putting in a coupling to gain some length, or perhaps two.

Can I find anything to buy that I'm confident enough will do the job? Can I heck. Everything I spot is 40mm.

Anyone know if 43mm couplings still exist, and who stocks them?

Is the existing pipe solvent weld also? You can usually tell by feel (solvent weld feels clean, and gives the impression that it's brittle, like it would crack if you whacked it on the floor. In contrast push fit feels kinda soft or greasy. It's like the different in feel between a coke bottle and a milk bottle) or by wiping a bit of pipe cement on it, wait a few seconds then scrape the solvent with a fingernail. If the solvent comes away looking like it did when it went on, it's not a solvent compatible plastic. If the solvent comes away coloured the same as the pipe then it successfully melted the plastic and the pipe is solvent compatible

Yep, solvent weld. The elbow above it is solvent weld.

I know I have 43mm pipe and pipe cement so just need to source couplings.

If it's a basin trap and waste pipe then that would usually be 32mm(36mm) - 11/4" . Has it then been increased to 40mm(43mm) - 11/2"?

If it's 43mm OD solvent weld pipe then normal 40mm solvent weld straight couplers would be what you'd use
