Today, as a sensible householder with my OSG, I was replacing a switched socket in my elderly mother's house. I noticed there was no grommet in the back box, and as the mounting screws were loose, I put one in before re-fixing it. However, the earth wires had been cut very short when it was installed, just reaching into the earthing terminal in the backbox, and I had great difficulty refitting them with a new sheathed wire to the socket terminal.
I have not come across this before, I like conductors to be slack enough that there is no tension on them. I would like to extend them, but don't have ratchet crimpers. I considered putting in a single piece of choc-block, but this seemed rather a bodge. Is there a neat and workmanlike way to do it?
