I have a house that has a single story utility room.
I am considering extending this upwards. Will the footings be deep enough as a norm? Is there a minimum depth of footings that is used regardles on single or double story.

I suspect I will have to get a builder in to check the depth of footings. How is they best way to find out if the footings are deep enough (can I do it myself?)

Cheers

In the absence of any paperwork for the building, dig a hole to expose the footings and get a SE round.
