I'm starting to build a single storey extension approx 6x4m in size.
I have a mature oak tree that will be approx 8m away from the proposed foundations.
Do any of you guys have any experience with regard to the depth the building inspector will ask for ?
Is he likely to want the extension to be piled ?
The current property is on a traditional concrete foundation presently and didn't need piling.
Thanks in advance.

Don't want to sound like an *** or something but........

I presume you have Planning permission, or it's within PD allowances?
I presume you have Bldg Regs approval, or are you doing it via a Building Notice?
If the conditions above apply then you will have an Inspector wanting to check the foundations............why don't you ask him + do as he says?
Only when he's checked the foundations are you ok to proceed really.........or am I missing something?
