Can anyone offer some suggestions on how best to repair this door that has a section which is rotting in the lower corner.

I was thinking to cut out all the bad stuff. Use wood hardener then glue in a new section before repainting
Anything else i might need to do?

Fit a length of Hardwood weather board , a bit of Ronseal Wood Filler , a coat of varnish stain and the door will look like new and you will still have change out of £20. ;)

Cheers Sounds better than having to replace the whole door for the time being

Burn the rotten wood out with a blow torch. Scrape out the toasted wood. Use car filler (the cheap stuff from a back street car spares shop will do....no need to buy Isopon P38 as it's dear) to build up the void.

Car filler works better at joinery repairs in my opinion than wood filler as you can sand it to a fine finish.
