Exterior Mahogany window frames - staining

I need to restain the window frames in our house and wanted to know if there is a long lasting wood stain available. Is there one brand or type I should be looking for?

Whats the best way to prepare th frames? Sandpaper or wirewool etc?

Really depends what is on now. I have always prefered Sikkens THB for hardwood . Dear, but does give a nice long lasting finish.
