I've been researching wood stove installations recently and noticed that some people recommend installing a fresh air intake for the stove, especially in modern well-insulated homes.
From what I understand, newer houses are much more airtight, which can sometimes cause draft issues or even affect how efficiently the stove burns.
Some installers say an outside air supply helps improve combustion and prevents the stove from pulling air from the living space, while others claim it’s not always necessary depending on the house and chimney setup.
I came across a guide that explains how fresh air intake works for wood stoves and when it might actually be required. You can read it here.
Curious what people here think.
Do most of you install an external air intake with your wood stove, or only in specific situations?
