External Flush Pipe Connector Eroded

Hiya just a quick question can i swap one of these:

For one of these:
http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/sp-2-141-1760-internal-flush-pipe-connector.asp
As the external one has eroded away or would it be pointless and just stick with buying a new external one?
Are either a better fit?

Depends on your toilet, but the internal one is preferable. For the price at any plumber merchant buy both, and see what work on your flushpipe.
