Hello,

my houses exterior wall has some patches where the render has come off/ or wasnt applied corrrectly when built leaving 10% of the house looking like this:

My wife says that we need to get the whole house chipped back  prob costing 5k+

So I was wondering if anyone would know if you can patch in the same effect, is it difficult to do?

your advice would be apprecaited.

cheers

Outside render should'nt be that thin, are you sure that it is not paint peeling off? If not it looks like someone has thrown a thin coat on it , for what reason I don't know....

That looks like the render coat underneath. Is it a thick coating of masonry paint on top?

i think its some sort of masonary paint (with small grit) on the outer layer thats was/is peeling. Theres not much between the exterior (gritted) surface to the bare brick below.

If it is the masonary paint flaking off, would you suggest re-applying a thicker coat to the whole house to hide the patches? or would i need to fill in each patch first then re-coat?

Would I use something like this:

and add the 2mm grit to it? I'm really a novice, and am trying my best to find a solution that wont mean stumping up 1000's for needless rerendering work.
