External Wall Insulation

The downstairs side wall of my victorian house is only single brick thick (upstairs of this wall is connected to next door) and hence the downstairs of my house looses a lot of heat through it.

I don't have the option of insulating the internal wall, so i'm looking for the best external wall insulation. The wall is in the shared alleyway, so the solution must be quiet thin so that I don't restrict access through the alleyway.

Can anyone tell me if the wall in the photos is a cork render insulation?
