I have a air vent already in my bathroom (grill face then a void then the outer grill face). im thinking of putting an extraction fan in this void i already have. The hole is 170mm x 170mm approx. Ive seen the 4" and 6" circular fans but not ones to put in this void. Any ideas anyone??

that aint gonna work

you need to reduce the size of the opening somehow.brick up/flushfit plasterboard/make a board to mount it to.

install a duct through the void and fix it somehow and fit a backdraft shutter.when wiring in fit a fan isolator to it in a safe zone(likewise the fan if not selv)

this is notifiable mate under part p so maybe cheaper to get a sparks in

EDIT:
you may get a centrifugal fan to fit over the whole lot it depends on the opening and where the vent is on the fan.you still need all the other bits

thanks for the links, but i think im gonna have to get the fan and somehow fill the gap in around it.....

If outside the zones, in for example, a large bathroom - would that require notification?
