Hi Noseall

Many thanks for your feedback on the garage design to avoid interstitial condensation - much appreciated.

One last question !

When it comes to the DPM in a concrete floor being "continuous" with the DPC under the timber frame sole plate in your opinion does this mean that the DPM actually goes under the DPM or does it mean that the DPM is mitred up against the DPC ?

Our Local BCO insists that the DPM is cut flush with the DPC then projecting slightly over the DPM ?

Is this perhaps an old idea ?

However one benefit I see it that it means that the DPM is not sticking up around the perimeter of the concrete floor when it comes to levelling of the wet concrete and thus avoids it catching on the levelling batten.

Look forward to hearing from you.

in most cases the dpm laps up and beneath the dpc.

just prior to laying the dpc, we trim the dpm back a little so that it allows some of the bedding mortar to be in contact the blockwork, then we bed the dpc into the mortar.

so long as 50% or so of the dpm is lapped under the dpc then you are ok.

they are not butted, but lapped - hence continuous.

p.s. most of the chaps on here will answer your posts and some are even helpful. ;)
