Hi all -

This is going to seem a really silly question!

We have a combi boiler and its just packed up. No hot water or heating.

The pilot light is not lit. This could be the ignition fuse / board or the spark electrode.

There is one question in the fault finding diagram which says 'is the fan oscillating on-off'.

My question is - how do we know ?!?!

The fan fires up at the beginning and doesn't come on again - and we don't get the usual 'ticking' sound.

Hoping you can help to explain how we know if it's oscillating!!

Well that says it all !

You can often see oscillations on an oscilloscope!

Cycling would be a better word - but then I like words  cycling on/off - oscillating up/down or to and fro.
