Why sometimes can you switch a bathroom extractor fan on with a light switch wire is there a reason or pure laziness, are you still required to use a 3P switch if using this method ,its been annoying me for last few days

Trying to understand what you are asking here.

What most people have is a fan that switches on at the same time as the light. If the fan has a timer then it will run on for some minutes after the light is switched off. This complies with Building Regs and removes those Guiness Gas smells.

If a timer fan is used then a 3 pole isolator is needed to switchj off the three live conductors:

Live
Switched live
Neutral

Most folk find that more convenient than a separate switch for the fan.
