Shameless self enrichment thundered the Guardian editorial in December as it slammed corporate fat cats for trousering huge salaries

although the NUJ had negotiated a 2% pay rise for Guardian staff to take effect on April 2020 management deferred is as a pandemic energency measure and than deferred it again in October

in any case the Guardian managerial elite was leading by example by taking a 20% pay cut

chief exec took a 126 grand pay cut

chief finance officer took a 84 grand pay cut

but not for long . Last week NUJ officials revealed that the pay cut had been quietly reversed on January 1st

owing to an unfortunate over sight they forgot to restore every one else’s wages

the Scot trusts endowment fund whose profits guarantee the paper stood at 954 million squid in March 2020 by last week it had risen to 1.1 billion squid

the Guardian was able to reverse managements pay cuts and whatch its endowment grow in part because of the generosity of British tax payers last April the paper took advantage of the governments wage subsidies and grants and out 100 staff on furlough

Taylor wimpy
Redrow
Barrat
And even the Torygraph have since returned there furlough money so it can be spent on the NHS and relief of poverty and all those other social projects the Guardian endorses

owing to an over sight the Guardian has forgotten to follow suit

That's surprising as the Guardian generally try to take the moral high ground
