I have a four-spotlight strip installed on my study ceiling. One of the halogen spots has failed and despite changing the spotlight bulb several tines, it still doesn't work. The three other spotlights are all working ok. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem please?
Thanks.

Are they mains or low voltage lights?

If its low voltage, they may have separate transformers or voltage converters which may have failed, although often they will just have one.

Sometimes these fittings can overheat and the base/socket the lamp plugs into gets damaged so you have no/lose connection.

check the individual fitting doesnt have its own little on-off switch. Ive seen some have this.

check also that you are engaging it in the lamp holder correctly. For mains halogens (with the large connector pins) you need to twist it to lock it in

Thanks for all your comments. Sounds like I need to replace the broken lampholder in my low voltage spotlight. As I'm very much a diy novice, is that an easy job that I can do without removing the whole of the strip of spotlights ?
