Hello,

After some advice regarding a faulty MVHR unit. Unit was not working correctly so was switched off, this has caused problems with mould growth both inside the unit and in the ducting. We have been told that the unit requires a full replacement including replacing all the mouldy ducting.

Does anyone no if you can clean the ducting instead of replacing it? It's a massive job to replace all the ducting and would involve lift carpets and floor boards etc.

And if there are any contractors out there that specialise in this line of work?

Thanks

Rigid duct can be cleaned provided it is accessible, such as on commercial/industrial installations where there are suitable access panels in the ducts.

If this is a domestic setup, then it's likely there will be is no way to clean the ducts without removing them - which makes replacing a much easier and cheaper option.

If it's been done in flexible ducts, then cleaning will be impossible.
