Felt backed carpets - tape or gripper?

U

Underlay

We are doing up a house in order to sell it. To keep costs down we want to recarpet the place ourselves. We've spotted a nice carpet but it is 'felt backed'.

Is it wise to use doublesided tape for sticking down felt backed carpets?

Should the carpet be stretched with a knee kicker?

Is an extra underlay essential or is the felt back adequate?

It is advised not to use standard grippers because the felt doesn't grip the pins well. There is a product called feltworks gripper which has 'mushroom head pins' and glue.

Is this the feltworks gripper the best option? Should the knee kicker be used with this?

Cheers.

felt backed carpet is just "glued" down, it doesnt know what a knee kicker is , as this is used to stretch the carpet over gripper rods

I think you will find that's for laminated flooring and not carpet.

Ahh, that would explain why it is so more cheaper than traditional underlay.
