Hi guys i've a leak in my ferroli f30 domi combi had a look inside and i can see the drips coming from the pipes that go into the heat exchanger its a small leak with wee drops it looks like its from the joint. whats my best course of action? my pals a plumber he says i could try some sort of leak sealer in the system otherwise i could be looking at getting ferroli out. im afraid of them coming out as they're £70 plus parts and id assume that they'd change the heat exchanger. thanks in advance any advice is appreciated

Could just be the seals that are gone. When was it last serviced? If its no longer under warranty, a local boiler engineer may well be cheaper than Ferroli

thanks for the reply muggles my pal the plumber reckons the heat exchanger will have to come out for it to be repaired would that be right because its in a very awkward spot

It's possible it will have to come out, but that doesn't mean it can't go back in again. Why isn't your plumber pal doing the job?

I was also wondering why this "mate" was not offering to sort it out!

Not so much of a mate perhaps?

Or not so much of a plumber?

You haven't said which version of the F30 you have so it's a little difficult to give an accurate assessment. It does, however, seem like you need to dump your pal and get someone who actually knows what they're talking about to look at it. If its a single-hex version and it really does need a new hex, its new boiler time (but buy something better...). On twin-hex models there might be a case for replacing the secondary hex, but you'll still have a rubbish boiler that's going to keep costing you money.

First thing to do is to have established exactly what is leaking and whether it can be fixed without using expensive parts.

yea i've been told its not the best boiler in the world unfortunately it came with the house. Its just got the 1 heat exchanger. theres 4 pipes that come out of it and the drip seems to be coming from the connection thats on the pipe thats on the left hand side and at the back if you know what i mean? the reason im on here is to establish how expensive a job it is and weather to change the boiler or not. thanks again for your advice its much appreciated

If it's a failure of the hex then you need to buy a new boiler, if it's a failure of a connection it could be relatively cheap, in which case you simply need to start saving to buy a new boiler when something more major goes wrong with it, which it will do. As for how much it will cost to fix, if it is a fixable leak, only someone stood in front of it can tell you that.
