I take it you mean the pressure guage is low. There should be a flexible pipe (filling loop) near the boiler with a tap on each, or one end. This is usually under the boiler but may be hidden in a cupboard nearby. You will have to search for it.

What sort of 'expert' did you have round?

the expert was from butco a local corgi registered firm i have looked for flexible pipe and cannot find any the only thing like it is a tube going to the motor, there is no tap anywhere it's weird .
Thanks for reply going back for another look
Thanks Dave its a house only just moved into have just removed two cupboards by dis-assembling them and found your pipe and pressure adjustment which is now set corrctly still need the corgi bloke though because other problem of heating continually going on and off is happening still he put this down to venturis
cheers again ada

If you can't find anything you could back fill it with a garden hose via a drain cock for now.

I don't think this boiler has a built in filling loop. Occasionally it may be a 'hard' piped filling loop in copper. This is very rare but I have seen it a couple of times.

There must be differing standards of expert !

Even filling via the drain off cock sometimes does not work because the mains pressure closes the washer.

Don't know how this site works but thanks Dave read above

Why couldn't the 'expert' take the fan out and clean today I wonder? Should not be more than about 30 mins job I would have thought.

The 'gasman' said he could do that but after phoning manufacturers help line he told me the best bet was to change the venturis whilst the fan was strippd because it's a 'big job' and he could get all the information about the system from the net as to where and how i put the pressure up which i have now done thanks to you.

I usually just 'blast' the venturis through with my compressor whilst it is off for cleaning. He seems to be making a job out of this!

Perhaps he knows that some of the Ferollis have a venturi made of some kind of material which falls apart if you touch it?

Or perhaps he needs MI to find out where the venturi is or how to clean it?

as usual tony is right the modena venturi falls apart if you look at it,blast it with a compressor and you will be in the mire   if it is grey replace it with a new one[red or white]personally i would prefer if you would use someone competent and familiar with the modena not your "expert".their is a quick and easy way to check the venturis without opening the combustion chamber as anyone familiar or competent would know

I've yet to come across this boiler so I gladly take note of the comments about the obviously inadequate venturi

Well i know i shouldn't have but the firm dealing with my system did not come today and i had a look at it myself the only thing i did was poke my pencil at a piece of dirt located in a rubber entrance on the flue sampling point no 90 in manual which i have since aquired i felt something move but left it not wanting to stick anything down a entrance that i did not know the purpose of, trouble is i've since put all covers back on but now everything is working on my heating and hot water system since looking at the manual i've a bad feeling that i've disturbed something that i shouldn't have i'm leaving well alone and waiting for service man tomorrow is this safe enough there are no noises -pressure changes or anything weird happening

My gas fitter didn't show today so i thought i would have a quick look i gave a gentle tap around the fan and inlet points but noticing some dirt in what i've now found out to be the flue sampling point i inserted my pencil to remove it not really knowing what iwas doing i reassembled the unit hoping that the fitter turns up tomorrow trouble is everything is now working i'm still getting the unit serviced but putting a pencil down the flue sampling point has me wondering if i could have damaged anything has anyone any answers for me ta
