'69 1.4 Tipo 356

I took a spark plug out to get the part no. Its marked NGK FPT 55188857.

I've tried to ascertain if its a long life type. It seems to be Iridium from a listing on Amazon. If so, @ 48k miles on the clock, I'll leave them in for now.

By the way, has anyone got a set of these sockets? ..... are they worthy of a place in a decent toolbox?

Never used or needed sockets like that.

Always very wary of using a socket than can have angled pressure onto it, very easy to crack a plug, and make a simple job into a nightmare.

Straight onto it in my book.
 
NGK partfinder website says this
I've never found the need to use a wibbly wobbly socket to go down a dead straight hole. Besides, I think a rigid extension is better to reduce the risk of cracking a plug.
 
The thin wall of these makes them ideal for certain vehicles - Nissan Qashqai 1600 anyone? The magnetic facility is great too.
Not sure about the wobble effect though but on the Suzuki Hyabusa you can't get direct onto the plug.
If you can get by with what you have, leave it there!

Noted of the NGK part finder.

Seems they're Nickel so best to change them.

I've found a set of Bosch FR78X Super 4, still sealed in the box, that I got for an i20 years ago.

They have the same seat, thread and depth as NGK ones so just trying to establish if they'll fit in the Tipo.

Agree about the thinwall, but you can get those in non wobble versions, which I maintain would be better. Better to use a short extension and then a longer wobble extension if you can't get directly in straight.
 
Its a no on the cross reference it seems even though the thread and depth are the same.
