Hi people,

We moved into our house which was painted white throughout, probably to hid the condition of the walls.
Because there are a few years worth of paint on them they have textured slightly, so any freshly filled and sanded areas stand out.

Can anyone suggest anything to get rid of this besides hanging some pictures over the bad bits??

This is in the Lounge, Hall, Landing and Stairs, Kitchen and one bedroom, which have all been decorated so I'm not looking to repaint the whole area or paper them.

Cheers
Matthew

I'm afraid it's the old story, trying to patch a surface with "any" texture on it without it being noticeable, is more or less impossible. Even a wall with a few years of paint, applied with a roller or a brush, will have enough of a texture on it, to show up any smooth, patched areas. You will "hide" it with paper that's for sure, or sanding might help a bit,,,,,but apart from that, the ultimate would be to put on a new plastered surface, (skimming).

Roughcaster.

Thanks for that. I thought there may be a decorators tip I could use to sort it out, but it looks like we going to have to wait until we repaint and give the whole surface a blast with the orbital sander.

Thanks again
Matt
