Filler for render holes / cracks

We have a rendered section at the front of the house - there are a few small holes from removed cable clips that I need to fill, and also a few thin cracks (1 - 2mm) on a face which I think are thermal related as that aspect gets a lot of sun. What is the best filler to repair small holes and cracks, or will I need 2 different types - i.e. a more solid drying filler for holes, and a flexible caulk like filler for cracks?

The house is circa 20 years old - it seems to be a painted cement/mortar render rather than an all in one coloured top coat, so I will be painting over afterwards so need something that won't show through the paint in terms of finished surface levels - can I "polish" the filler back with a damp sponge or similar to flatten it out?

Regarding paint I've always used Sandtex masonary paint in previous houses - any other / better brands?

Thanks

Thanks - the Metolux looks promising, assuming I can work fast enough!
