Afternoon folks,
I’m trying to fill an opening in an internal wall. I’ve taken the door jamb out and discovered block work and dot and dab plasterboard (see images below).
I want to check that my plan for filling this sounds sensible.
My plan is to
- erect stud work framing at 400mm centres to fill the opening, using 120x 45mm cls timber screwing it to the the block work, lintel and floor. (The current gap between plasterboard sheets is 125mm at narrowest, 130mm at thickest hence why I’ve chosen 120mm thick cls)
- use window packers to pack out the stud work until flush with the existing inside edge of the plasterboard.
- fill between the block work edge and the existing plasterboard with expanding foam to make it more rigid.
- fit the new plasterboard through the packers and into the timber, tape and skim.
Does that sound reasonable?
