Filling Gap around window reveal

Had new windows fitted about 12 months ago and finally getting round to decorating one of the rooms. Anyway a chunk of the plaster in the top right corner of the window reveal has come away. What would the best material to back fill this and then fill over with be? The gap at the top where you can see the lintel is covered with a plastic trim which i have removed just to aid access.

Line the inside of window with plasterboard.
If you can get some sheet insulation in first to seal off then all the better
