Filling holes in plasterboard

Hi,

I have just removed a load of poorly installed trunking left by the previous owner.
I need to fill this with something before I decorate the room.

the trunking was laid about 10cm below the window sill travelling perpendicular to it, but the plasterboard above the trunking hole is no flapping around too.

any suggestions/tips?

I was thinking about using 'No More Big Gaps' and then plstering over the top to get a smooth finish (I figured that would be a quick an easy way of plugging the big gap left by the trunking)

any alternatives?

would it be a good idea to just remove the 10cm wide length of plasterboard beneath the window-sill and plaster on top of the brickwork to bring it level with the 'good' plasterboard?

you could stick a length of fresh plasterboard in and then fill over it providing its not too thin to cut to size
