Hi there, wondering if anyone can help?

My garage is attatched to the house (garage wall is also the hall way) and a few years ago we had a hole knocked through the breeze blocks because we were going to put a door from the hall to the garage...no frame was put in or anything so it is just literally a door shape hole in the breeze blocks, however, now we have decided we dont want to put a door there but brick it back up again because it lets in alot of cold air! Any advice on how to do so??!! Any suggestions on the type/mix of cement to use too? Was hoping the job wouldnt be too difficult!!

Thanks

Of course it lets in a lot of cold air, it's a big bloody hole!

A good quality door and frame will be airtight if fitted correctly, an insulated panel front door would be better. or even 2 doors back to back (one opens in, one opens out)

Haha!!! There is still plaster board there!! Just holey on one side! Id rather brick it back up again, do you know how to do that?! Someone said I'll need to stick some metal thing in the old blocks then build around it with new blocks or something??!!

if you just put a wall starter (fore mentioned metal thingy) in you could simply build it back up in block. Ideally you want to hack off some plaster either side and tooth out a few blocks instead, it'll be less likely to crack constantly.

Either way if you manage to tooth out or can't do it and just block it up make sure to put some expanded metal over the joins when you re-plaster.
