find out where my gas supply comes onto the property

not sure if this is the right place to post this but can anyone tell me hown to find out where my gas supply comes onto the property as we are digging up the front garden next week and dont want to go through it.

Follow back from the gas meter to see where it enters the house.

Then its guesswork unless you have a CAT and Gene! And there only if its a metal pipe!

Use "Dowsing Rods",

thanks for that but i know that much i need to find out where and how deep it runs as it goes straight down under the meter into the ground.

As I have already said .The rods will give direction.

Dig a test pit to find depth. Reccommended depth is "Not less than 375mm".

This varies greatly due to method of insertion.

they will have a 'dial before you dig' service and will either email out plans showing pipe location or come and mark the ground for you.

remember they may be high pressure gas mains, and other services, not just the pipe supplying your meter.
