finish nails?

Hi, is there another name for finish nails as I don't seem to see them for sale in many places?
I was following instructions for making a unit and the unit can be put together with either 'finish' nails or screws.

Finish nails are usually round with tiny heads, so they don't tend to split timber beads etc.....Wickes and others do them in packs. Some people call them panel pins (which they aren't) although they may do the same job.

Thanks John, I've just looked at the wickes site. Are they also called lost head nails? They are nailed so the head is just showing then another nail is used to sink the head into the wood.

Yep, that'll do.....lost heads had a rhomboid or diamond head that the timber fibres would close around when the nail was fully in - and they were zinc plated, often enough.
Finishing nails are much the same, requiring little or no filler.

the trouble with using another nail is,it can slip of the head of the nail.so it can look like a big hole.

buy yourself a proper nail punch,they do different ones for different nails.
