I live in an ex local authority house, built in the 1940's, and part of the house has an area where the finished floor is about half a course below the dpc. The walls of this part of the house don't have a cavity, just two layers of brick. It's a flat roof "extension", although it appears to have been built at the same time as the rest of the house, which does have cavity walls. Possibly originally some kind of utility room?
The internal floor was recently removed, a dpm installed, 50mm of insulation, another dpm, and finished with 80mm of concrete. The idea was to finish with self levelling compound and then tiles. The dpm has been cut level with the concrete finish, and not lapped into the dpc, so there is half a course of exposed brick below the dpc. I'm not sure if this will be a problem, so would appreciate some advice. Part of the original floor was damp, and there was previously no dpm. For peace of mind, is it possible to bridge the gap with a liquid DPM and, if so, how would this affect any self levelling layer?
