Hi, which is better,

I am looking for Lithium Backup, with 230v mains and interconnectivity.

looking at it, I have narrowed it down between Kidde and Ei..

Ei have a combined optical and heat detector which Kidde dont list, and Ei are more expensive than Kidde.. but whether that means better functionality / quality I dont know lol

Kidde are smaller.

Which would you go for?

Hi, Thanks

yep, the ones ive got in our house seem like a good quality product.
and certainly more expensive than Kidde ones, which would re-inforce that theres a reason for them being more expensive.

was just wondering, because Kidde are a better known brand and possibly been going longer?

its for a job im about to do, im notifying my local building control of a rewire and consumer unit change and doing it through them legally.

but they want me to also follow any related building regulations, so installation of CO alarms near gas appliances, Smoke alarms 1 per floor.

So was going to shove a combined heat and optical alarm in the kitchen and CO alarm because there is a gas cooker (combined oven and stove) in there.. a separate fridge and freezer.. and ive read recently about a few cases of fridges catching fire lol and also had personal experience the other week where the freezer started making a strong burning smell... like burnt plastic. So Combined seemed best for that purpose.

Then optical alarm at the top of the stairs.. and CO because there is a boiler in the cuboard at the end of the landing... didnt see a point to fitting anything better than optical here, because theres nothing to catch fire out there, and if a bedroom fire occured smoke is likely to come from the doors before the heat is detected.

So that should fullfil the requirements.. was thinking might put extra one at the bottom of the stairs.. but again nothing really to catch fire down there... only consumer unit but that would probably smoulder and smoke before anything else so smoke/optical should be sufficient there.

if i dont put one there and the person wants might put the 3rd one in the lounge as a heat and optical.. would probably be more sensible there than the hallway as there is more in terms of electricals.
