Fire fighter.....

I see more women trades people around these days, I think that’s good

I generally think ending male gender names for job names is not a bad thing.

I don’t agree with sacking somebody for using the word fireman, all it does is give the Daily Mail headlines

He wasn’t sacked for that, you’ve fallen for the spin

He was given a final written warning for not properly managing a bullying and harassment allegation by a female fire fighter. He chose to resign and claim constructive dismissal, and lost because the proper procedures had been followed. I have some sympathy because it looks like senior management hung him out to dry, but it was a bullying scenario however you look at.

While I appreciate the nonsense of calling a female cricketer a batsman, I've always found "batter" took some getting used to.
No malice, just decades of one thing then things changed.

On the flip side, a few years ago there was a concerted effort to call all thespians "actors" but, in recent times, I've noticed that "actress" is returning to common usage.

FFS hope she gets on better now with her collegues after getting him sacked.
You should've read the whole article.
She resigned and won £52k at employment tribunal.
He was stupid because after they gave him a final written warning he should've played the game, keep his head down for 12 months (using sick leave as well as annual leave) and then carry on.
By then she was gone, so there wouldn't be any further trouble.
I think he tried to get a few bobs like her and failed.
