Following last years chiminea explosion  we decided to convert it into " the never seen befoe plant pot feature " and purchased a new fire pit. Well after a few weeks use we dont seem that impressed as it takes 3 hours for the wood to burn down and give off some good heat without us having to duck n dive out of the way of the black smoke clouds.....

In my quest to find a "smoke free wood" i heard a story about putting rocks into the pit as these kick out great heat when heated up and retain it for hours.
Now with this in mind does anyone know what the best type of rock/pebble/stone to use ??

I have been warned not to use sea/river stones as they can pop due to the high levels of moisture in them . hmmmmmmmmm party trick here ! :D

Cheers
