Hi we are currently renovating our house and want to eventually put a new open fire in the lounge. However the previous owners had used a gas fire. We have had this discounted and removed and are now faced with a hole in the wall and hole within that where the back boiler has been removed and no idea where to go from here!
We are happy to get a chimney sweep in to look at the chimney but would like to know what he will need to check so we don't look completely clueless (which, on this occasion, we are!) We have booked the plasterer to start work early Oct so really want to have this sorted asap (although the plasterer will be working on the house for around 4 weeks so we do have some time). Any help would be much appreciated as we really know nothing about this one!
