Hi all

I have just ordered a limestone surround and a granite hearth and would like to know what is the best stuff to stick the surround to the exsisting wall with (Gripfill??) and also what to use to stick the hearth down with gripfill or cement etc??

I have a cast iron insert and the fire is run by electric

Thankyou for any reply's

Leigh

Best to check with supplier but tile adhesive or silicone should fix the surround while sand and cement for hearth.
I have a solid fuel cast insert and it rests on the hearth, the cast iron inset is fixed to the wall (with Plumbaflue) and as the hearth is granite it weighs a ton so I didn't fix it down but believe me, it's not going to move! The surround had two screw fixings either side (mirror plates) to hold it against the wall and I let them into the wall and filled over them so they are invisible.
