Fit doors before new carpets?

OK - silly question time.

We want to order new carpets for all of the upstairs rooms. After having them fitted, we planned to get new pine doors fitted on all of the rooms.

However, I worry about the door fitting causing a mess on new (cream) carpets (can't expect the chippie to wear slippers, can I!?).

Would it work out as practical to get the doors fitted first and assume that they will leave enough of a gap for the carpets?

I would have the carpet laid first, unless you are prepared to get chippy back to adjust door gap. If chippie returns it should only take him a few minutes to re plane each door but you will paying him again. Why not hava a word with chippie.
But remember the carpet would be laid a lot easier if the doors were off & you may need to plane the bottom of the old doors.

sorry to disagree but , fit the doors first , the joiner should leave 5/8 or 3/4 inch to allow for the carpet ( or work to the old carpet) that is the proceedure in a new build house :D
