Hello all,

My new toilet has a cistern that bolts onto the pan. It has nothing to fix it against the wall, how should I fix it? Plenty of mastic? Worried that if it is just bolted to pan it will eventually fatigue the bolts through movement... kids etc!

Advice welcome!!

Ps hope this is in the right forum

All depends really on how close the cistern sits against the wall.

Sometimes close-coupled cisterns can leave you with a small gap between the back of the wall and the cistern..no matter what combination of pan connector you use!
especially common if you are replacing a toilet onto the existing soil connection.

If the back of the cistern is up against the wall then a few good blobs of good quality silicon will do the trick. Movement should be minimal.

If you have a smallgap between the back of the cistern and the wall put up a batten of equivalent size to effectively "fill" the gap. Silicone the cistern to that.
