fitting a new oven

Is their any reason why you can't run the cable outside the house rather than under the floor boards as the fuse box is at the other end of the house compared to the kitchen. The oven I have currently got does not need a 6mm cable so I now need to fit one.
 
No but it will need to be protected from damage eg run in plastic conduit fixed to the wall or alternatively a 'protected' cable such as steel wired armoured

My parents have a 10mm SWA cable powering a sub-main for the kitchen which not only powers cooker but whole of kitchen using a mini consumer unit and RCBO's and is handy as now the trips can be accessed by my disabled mother.
Using SWA there was no need for RCD protection at the main consumer unit as far as the kitchen went.
