Hi decided to replace my old wheel type thermostat with newer one of the same type (differant make), the wires in the back of my old one are .
1=red
2 =red
3=earth yellow & green
4=black.
fitted the new one the same following the numbers but just blows fuse ,it says in the instructions ,
1=common
2=satisfied
3=demand
4=connect to neutral stating that it is important to conect the no 4 to neutral .

any ideas where iam going wrong ,cheers

probably should be :
old 1(red) to new 1
old 2 (red) to new 3
old 3 (green/yellow) to new earth connection
old 4 (black) to new 4

this is not definite as diferent makes and models use diff Nos. for diff uses, you really need to check where the individual wires go to/come from.

thanks for replies i think the old one is a 15 year old honeywell ,not too sure as i am on nights ,it does still work however as i put it back on whilst i found out some info its just a little bit dated looking.

its not an old t6060 is it ?

Twgas.
tried the wiring suggested the heating comes on but stays on regardless of the room stat, have put the old one back on .

tell us what original stat was their ?
or use a meter and check the wiring and follow it back to the wiring centre.

no good keep taking pot luck.
