hi guys...

how do you fix a upstand along the worktop...the wall is lightly uneven...i was going to use "no nails" but the upstand wont be flush against the wall due to the uneveness of the wall...i could use screws to screw it into the wall but then ill be left with screwheads showing....any ideas and advice please..cheers

goof - the normal method of fixing these is with silicon (others will use Gripfil, etc). Large gaps? A couple of choices, fill the gap (yuk!) or scribe the upstand into the wall (cut the high spots away - if it's plaster will be easy). You could of course tile down onto the top edge of the u/stand. When fitting these remember to run a bead of clear silicon under the u/stand to seal from water penetration.

What's the u/stand made of, laminate chipboard? If so there may be a little give in it to allow it to follow the contour of the wall, fix as above but hold in position with weights 'till the adhesive has set. If you really have to use screws get mirror screws (the ones with the chrome domes).

Granite u/stand? Then you'll have to scribe it in.

we always used clear silicon when fitting upstand just run a bead of silicon along the back and the bottom of the upstand and use weights to keep it tight to the wall and down to the kitchen worktop and if theirs a (wee gap) between the wall and upstand we would fill it with(painters caulk or silicon)
hope this is some help to ye
