Fitting new lock - Staple too recessed.

Hello

I'm attempting to fit a new Yale nightlatch door lock.

The staple that fits to the doorframe doesn't line up with the lock as the previously chiseled area is now too deep.

Is there anything i can use to fill the gap between the chiseled depth and the required position the staple?

If it is the usual amount about 3 to 4 mm just pack with a bit of folded card.
I often used my business cards for that.

gaps about 4-5mm so I'll give card a go.

cut a bit of ply to size,then pre drill the holes.
