Hinges recessed too deep

All the door hinges in this house have been recessed too deep as in photo.


The new hinge holes are in a different place.
What’s the best thing to do.

Usually I re-drill the holes with 4.5mm drill bit and fit 5mm dowels with gorilla expandable glue and fill the gap with filler ready for the joiner to chisel the new hinge pockets.

What would you do ?

DIY store.
On the rack of wood buy some 4mm thick wood strips. cut to fit old hinge cutout. Glue it.

Hinge holes

Same rack. Small dowel. I use pencil sharpener to take edge off to get it in hole. Spot of glue helps. Tap it in
