I want to fit a restraining hinge to the upvc door on my porch to stop it closing when trying to take shopping in etc. It was fitted when the porch was built some years ago.

I have checked it with a level and it seems OK apart from the fact that if I look at the door from the inside it slightly leans toward the outside, I assume this is why it is closing all the time.

It came with self tapping screws but these don't go fully in and I believe I am right in saying this is because there is a steel/aluminium inner frame....am I right?

Do I just need to drill through the frame or is there something else I need to know.

Thanks

I'm confused, if you've already got one why do you want to fit one?

Ok I get it now.
We normally just use self drilling screws but yes you can just pilot hole the reinforcing.
Depending on what size screw your using you will want somewhere around a 3mm -3.5 mm drill bit

Thanks, not sure what type of screw was actually supplied although they look like self tapping. The test one I tried went through the plastic no problem then hit a brick wall and despite my best efforts wouldn't go any further, hence my question.
