After a rather long delay (and a quick fix that has held surprisingly well) I now have a clear bit of time to switch over a broken duct into a new one (only Manrose).

However, I have never done this before - it looks like they're attached with zip ties? Is it that simple? Is there a brand/style of zip ties that are used?

Yes that simple but they can slip off, gaffer tape or better foil tape can add to security .

if your talkin about connectin twwo lengths of 100mm manrose ducting then you dont tape them you use the custom manrose 100mm connector fittin.

Connecting the hose from the fan to the vent/pipe - when I looked at it it looks like a zip tie fixed directly around the hose?

This is from the bathroom ceiling vent to outside if that makes any difference
