Hi,

I need to install a bath showerscreen on a tiled wall. There is no stud behind where the showerscreen needs to go (apart from half-way down where it hits a horizontal).

So, I've looked at hollow wall anchors, but for a heavy-duty anchor, I need to drill quite a big hole which will be too big for the bracket.

I've just bought some of these, but they're plastic and I'm not sure how long they will last.....

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

The screens weight should be supported by the bath top. As Foxhole says the added strength ot the tiles should be enough to hold the bracket in place.

It is a shame that the Duo plugs are not available without a collar. I guess you can chisel off the collar after though to enable fittings to sit flush. I used to use the Tox plugs in the old days, they sold them with and without collars. Difficult to get hold of over here now.

Collar should not be a problem as they are tiny and wall plate usually has rebated slot down it .

You are correct that most shower screen channels have a slight rebate. My point was more about the many other items that might be fitted that need to sit flat.

Tox were the first nylon fittings that I came across which would wind up the screw thread, and as I said, they did them with and without collars. I first purchased them about 20 years ago, Fischer were (seemingly) late to the game but the Duo plugs look like an improvement (bar the lack of collarless version).

Apply heat, collar disappears in seconds .
