I've got to install a short length of overflow pipe and i understand it is usual to join this pipe with pvcWeld cement. Is there any other way i can join them, maybe with sealant as i've only got two joints to install and a tin of Pipeweld pvc cement costs in excess of £4 which seems a bit of a waste when i only need a little bit?

It`s your home? so you could use any type of glue and as its a push fit you take the risk! Have you some Super glue? still not as good as pvc cement.

Cheers Pete, yes it is in my own house. If the pipe weld is the best stuff for the job then i'll get some - just thought there might be an alternative which does the same job which i might already have some of?

Its only a few quid at the end of the day so if thats what i need then i'll have to get some.

Hi there,

Airfix Glue is the same as Sovelent Weld. But agian its your risk to take.
