Hi the screws in one of the hinges came away from the ladder door and the spring pulled one of the ladder fixing screws loose. I called a loft ladder fitter out and he said i needed to replace the screws with bolts and he could do it, but he has not replied to text or voicemails asking when he could fix it. I can fit the bolts but am not sure how to release the springs. I need to do this to drill the holes to bolt the hinges and the ladder to the door. Can anybody help me out here?

Loop a strong cord around hook of spring and use it to release the spring.
Cheers for that tip. I got the springs free using a bootlace.
